SAE Sound effect Workshop with Kam Cooney

efx_1
efx_2

One of the coollest things about movies are the special effects. Ever wonder how a car flips over when shot at the tires during a high speed chase? Or a knife thrown and as the camera pans hits bullseye at the victim's chest. These are the things that Kam Cooney designs at his workshop. Fake Knife, grenades, arrows, rubber chains he uses to make the action looks real on camera. With many years of working experience in Hollywood Kam shares many of his stories of working in the industry. Thanks to Kam Cooney for showing us a glimpse of the special effects side of moviemaking. Surely we would like to have those cool effects in our films. Thank you Sugi and team!!!

Take a look at our previous acting
for director workshop w/ John Merengo

actworkshop

groupact

We had the great opportunity to partake in Acting for Directors workshop where the participants learn from the perspective of the actors. With the guest lecturer, John Morengo, a trained actor with many theater and film experience under his belt, the sessions were very rewarding. By pairing up with a partner or in groups, participants take part in different dynamic exercises like improvisations, objectives, subtext, moment before, etc.

It was exactly what the acting workshop set out to do as aspiring directors got a taste of being in the position of an actor. The skills gained from theses sessions will be useful as participants can apply them in making their films. As this is the first but not the last acting workshops we will come back to have other sessions soon. Thank you Sugi, his team and SAE Bangkok for organized this workshop

After Paradise studio we don't wanna stop there because there are so many more cool studios in Bangkok. We went to visit one only one cool proper recording studio @ Vintage Studio ! They have so many amazing outboard gear it's so sick. 3 rooms plus million of decent high class microphone. And that day, the staffs took us to places we never went before. Inside the art of sound engineering and mixing down technique. They were so friendly to us and we really want to visit them again !

Digital showcase party 2008 ! ---------------------------------------updated on 21.5.08

sae_film_party_2008

The showcase took place @ SAE and it was crowded as students of the current Digital Film Making courses presented their latest work. Over three hours with small interval, students and lecturers presented a mixture of short films, music videos and commercials that made for an entertaining and memorable night.

There was something for everyone. From how one delivery changed the life of a shy pizza boy and why Titanic would not have been possible without the right shampoo, to more serious issues of how we deal with the environment and the ones around us as well as new insights into how to cook your shoes just right. Congratulations ! to all the participants on a job, well done.

For everyone who missed the event, keep checking back on this website for future student film screenings as we look forward to the outcome of current productions.

็Screenshots of some work from that night !
